Nicole Ari Parker is an American film TV and stage actor known for her performance as the fiery lawyer Teri Joseph in the Showtime show Soul Food. In the years following her marriage the actress is now known by the name Nikki Kodjoe. Born and raised in Baltimore Maryland. In her early years as a child, she displayed an interest in acting and received the Top Actress Award in the Maryland High School competition. Her career in acting started after she joined the Washington Ballet Company as well as theatre. Her first major role in The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love fetched an immense amount of respect. After that, she appeared in movies such as "Boogie Nights Spark" and "Blue Streak". Soul Food, her TV show, was widely praised because of the performances she performed. Her appearances also appeared in TV programs like Second Time Around" and Empire. They have two kids together.

Contractor, who was born in Mumbai and was a resident of Nigeria during seven years had a wide range of cultural experiences and travels at an early age. At the age of seven through nine, she went to boarding school in London. The family later relocated to Toronto where she lived through the majority of her childhood. Contractor trained in classical ballet in Toronto. She also excelled academically. She was a student at the Etobicoke School of the Arts which is a highly specialized public arts high school where she not only danced but also studied theatre. At the age of 16, after nearly 10 years of dancing, Contractor discovered she was looking to study acting professionally. After she completed high school and was awarded a full tuition scholarship to University of Toronto where she pursued theatre studies with a double diploma in sociology and psychology. Contractor got her first part after a year of university. After 92 performances, she received glowing reviews. The production was recognized as the top production in Canada by the critics. She was given the chance to join Stratford Conservatory. It allows only eight males and four woman for a crash course in traditional theatre. Contractor eagerly accepted. Contractor was guaranteed a spot in the next season of plays and landed the part of Hermia In A Midsummer Night's Dream.
